Ted Davis – President and CEO
Ted Davis has 25 years of experience in the life sciences industry as an investor and senior executive, including chief executive officer of MicroPort Orthopedics and president of its predecessor Wright Medical Technology’s global OrthoRecon division from 2012 through 2015. Prior to leading the carve out and integration of the OrthoRecon platform, Davis led Wright’s business development, corporate development and research & development functions from 2006 to 2012, with increasing responsibility for the business development, government affairs, national accounts, reimbursement, medical education and global research & development teams. Davis oversaw the acquisition and integration of a series of extremities and biologics platforms during Wright’s transformation into the market leader in the extremities market segment. Prior to joining Wright in 2006, Davis spent 10 years in the life sciences venture capital field, serving on the boards of multiple biotechnology and medical device companies while at MB Venture Partners and Vector Fund Management. He holds an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Vanderbilt University.
Erik Harris, MHA – Vice President, Global Market Access, Health Economics & Reimbursement
Harris joined the Active Implants team in 2017, bringing 25 years of leadership and experiences in market access, health economics and reimbursement for the U.S. and international markets. Prior to this role, he served as senior director of global reimbursement and market access at Wright Medical Technology, Inc., a global medical device company focused on extremities and biologics; senior director of reimbursement and global market access for Biomimetic Therapeutics, LLC., a biotechnology company that develops products for the healing of musculoskeletal injuries and disease (acquired by Wright Medical in 2013); and manager of market access and reimbursement at Zimmer, Inc. (now Zimmer Biomet), a global musculoskeletal medical device company. Through multiple roles at health care organizations and medical device companies, he brings to Active Implants extensive experience in legislative and government affairs, health care finance, health care policy analysis, advocacy and lobbying, and provider/pay.
J. Michael Keenan – Vice President, Administration and CFO
Keenan has served as chief financial officer since 2009. Keenan has extensive experience in the financial leadership for privately held startups and growth-stage companies. Prior to Active Implants, Keenan led the finance efforts at a successful telecommunications private equity firm. He has also held positions with an international accounting and consulting firm, where he consulted with businesses ranging from small, local operations to Fortune 500 companies on issues such as financial systems design, internal controls implementation, debt and equity financing, and corporate income tax strategy. As a valuation, merger and acquisition consultant, he assisted clients in analyzing strategic investments and divestitures, performed forecast modeling, provided valuation opinions for estate, gift, and income tax planning, assisted in pre-IPO planning, and negotiated the purchase and sale of businesses and business operations. Keenan is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Adam Klyce – Vice President, Marketing & Clinical Operations
Klyce brings over 20 years of experience in the medical technology field. Prior to joining Active Implants in 2015, he served in a consulting role, spearheading patient recruitment and development of clinical trial investigational sites for the NUsurface® Meniscus Implant. Prior to this, he held roles as vice president of marketing at Spartek Medical, Inc., a developer of spinal implants, and director of marketing at St. Francis Medical Technologies, a privately held company that developed and marketed the X STOP Interspinous Process Decompression System. Klyce played a primary role in the successful acquisition of St. Francis by Kyphon Inc. in January 2007. Kyphon was later acquired by Medtronic (NYSE: MDT). He received his bachelor of arts in public relations from Humboldt State University.
Eran Linder-Ganz, PhD – Vice President, Research and Development
Dr. Linder-Ganz joined Active Implants in 2006. In addition to serving as vice president of research & development, Dr. Linder-Ganz is managing director of Active Implants Israel and was involved in the development of the NUsurface® Meniscus Implant from the very first sketch. He received his doctorate in biomedical engineering at Tel-Aviv University. His seven years research into injury mechanics focused on the pathomechanics of deep tissue injury (DTI, pressure ulcers). In his research, he developed his expertise in experimental and computational aspects of musculoskeletal biomechanics. One of the major topics was an integration of computational, experimental and imaging approaches in a clinical study examining the risk of developing pressure ulcers among wheelchair users. He published a collection of peer-reviewed journal articles as well as more than 100 conference abstracts, three book chapters and granted four U.S. patents.
Tim Rinks – Vice President, Operations
Rinks brings extensive experience driving sustainable growth and commercialization in pharmaceutical and medical device organizations both domestically and internationally. Prior to joining Active Implants in 2018, he served as director of strategic operations, general manager and plant manager at AmerisourceBergen PharMEDium. He was general manager at ClearLab Ltd., a Division of 1 800 Contacts, Inc., and has also held senior operations and engineering positions with Gyrus ACMI, Inc.; The Cooper Companies; and Bausch & Lomb. Rinks earned his bachelor of science in mechanical engineering with honors from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and completed advanced leadership development programs from the Eckerd College Management Development Institute. He has extensive Lean Six Sigma experience, having been trained as a Shingo Prize Examiner and serving as Six Sigma Champion leading execution and deployment plans for Fortune 500 companies.
Richard W. Treharne, PhD MBA MSE – Vice President, Clinical & Regulatory Affairs
Dr. Treharne has been in his current role since 2006. Dr. Treharne was previously employed as vice president of regulatory affairs at Medtronic Sofamor Danek, now Medtronic Spine and Biologics. He received his undergraduate engineering degree from The Ohio State University, master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania, and a master’s of business administration from the University of Memphis.
